10th Commencement Exercises
Commencement exercises are a vital part in the academe. It allows the administration and faculty to see their formed doctors before they start their own medical life. This year’s graduation day is not an exemption having been celebrated in the new Angelo King Auditorium last May 25, 2008.
The baccalaureate was given by Rt. Rev Manual C. Lumpias and Rev. Fr. Florentino L. Caytap. Students here remember that all their endeavors and favors was given by our Lord God and for them to continue to have faith in him.
The commencement exercises were invocated by Rt. Rev. Manuel Lumpias. This was followed by the message of the President and Dean, Dr. Brigido L. Carandang, Jr. The Dean shared with the parents the changes happening in the college in line with the college’s vision-mission. This also makes the parents more proud of their children that have passed these changes and now belongs to the graduating class.
We were very lucky to have a speaker that embodies someone who has integrity in service which is a goal of the college to be inculcated in its graduates. Florencio B. Abad is a social, political and governance reformer that has strong and proven commitment of 31 years to social structural reform based on genuine people empowerment, equity, social justice and sustainable development. He had civil society work with trade unionism, agrarian reform, human rights and peace. Also, he was voted representative of the Lone District of Batanes in 1987 to 1990 and again at 1995 up to 2004. This was the time when Batanes was sited in the map of places to go to in the Philippines. He also was appointed Secretary of the Department of Education from 2004 to 2005. Florencio Abad is an epitome of what integrity in service to the Filipino people is which is what doctors should be here in our country.
The candidates for graduation were presented by Dr. Brigido Carandang Jr. and were conferred by Rt. Rev. Manuel Lumpias. Hoods were imposed to the graduates as well as their dipolomas. Dr. Emeciel Alta F. Cajucom was awarded this year’s Valedictorian and Cum Laude while Dr. Michael E. Chua was awarded with the William H. Quasha Award. The top ten graduates were: Emeciel Alta F.
